Sports Massage
What is sports massage therapy?
Dive deep into the heart of muscle tissue, where our skilled therapists employ a variety of advanced techniques to stretch, loosen, and revitalize every fiber of your being. By increasing blood flow and oxygen delivery, we not only enhance your flexibility but also significantly alleviate pain stemming from muscular injuries, ensuring you’re always in top form.
Discover the transformative power of trigger point therapy, a cornerstone of our sports massage that targets hyperirritable spots within your muscles. These trigger points, often the culprits behind limited movement and persistent pain, are meticulously treated through focused compression, paving the way for strength and pain-free performance.
In addition, our Soft Tissue Release technique stands at the forefront of injury prevention and recovery. By expertly combining stretching maneuvers with strategic frictions, we unlock enhanced mobility, diminish scar tissue formation, and dissolve fibrous adhesions. This holistic approach not only accelerates your return to activity but also fortifies your body against future injuries.

The Process
How do I start care? And how does it work?
Free muscle assessment
A muscle assessment is an informal discussion with a Soft Tissue Therapist to help you gain a better understanding of your wellbeing needs. We aim to have a comprehensive overview of your health and wellbeing and will help establish short and long term treatment or lifestyle changes which can support you in achieving maximum health.
(Already know you want a sports massage, you can skip this part!)
Initial Consultation
During your initial consultation, we’ll take the time to understand your health and lifestyle through a series of questions. We’ll then assess your muscles, posture, and range of motion to establish a clear picture of your needs and set specific goals for your session. Once we have this information, we’ll focus on the area of concern, customizing your massage to provide the most effective treatment for your individual needs.
*Your initial consultation does include a massage.
Continued Care
After your initial consultation, our massage therapists will develop a course of care tailored to your individual needs. Regular massage therapy is essential for reducing muscle tension, improving circulation, and enhancing overall flexibility. Continued care can also help manage stress, alleviate chronic pain, and promote faster recovery from injuries. By committing to a consistent massage routine, you’ll not only address current concerns but also support long-term health and well-being.
Initial Consultation
Your first visit
During your first massage at Back In Line Therapy Centre we will discuss any health-related issues and concerns. You will also learn about potential care options we have for you. We’ll have some brief paperwork for you to fill in on your first visit. This paperwork provides us with general information about you and your lifestyle.
Next, we’ll conduct a comprehensive assessment of your muscles, posture, and range of motion, allowing us to pinpoint problem areas and understand how your body moves and functions and pinpoint any possible imbalances. With this information in hand, we’ll focus on the areas that require the most attention, tailoring your message to address the root causes of discomfort and optimize your overall well-being. This first session is all about discovering what your body needs and beginning the journey to improved health and relaxation.
Techniques That we use
Myofascial release
A soft tissue method that focuses on relieving tissue tension via the removal of fibrosis/adhesions which can develop in tissues as a result of overload due to repetitive use. These disorders may lead to muscular weakness, numbness, aching, tingling and burning sensations.
Joint mobilisation
A form of manual therapy whose intention, as its name states, is to increase the mobility of a joint; performed by the therapist with slow oscillations of nonaxial motion at the end of passive range of motion of the joint.
Fascial manipulation
A manual therapy method specifically designed to address restrictions and densifications of the deep fascia tissue that surrounds and interconnects muscles, tendons, bones, nerves, blood vessels and internal organs throughout the body. Restrictions in the gliding and sliding ability of separate facial layers of connective tissue due to veruse, trauma or immobilisation contribute to densifications.
Lymphatic drainage
A light, skin-stretching massage that helps promote the movement of lymphatic fluid out of a swollen limb. It should not be confused with a traditional massage. This technique specifically focused on the lymph vessels to help the flow of lymphatic fluid. Therapy is applied to your unaffected areas first, making it possible for the fluid to move out of the affected area, or “decongest” the region.
